About the Library

about_library_smallParliament Library with a history of one hundred years old is one of the fundamental institutions of Iran contemporary civilization. With the establishment of Constitution in Iran (1906), some of the intellectual Parliament representatives suggested to dedicate a building to a library in order to gather essential sources of knowledge for the Parliament members. It was the first Asian Parliamentary Library.

Regarding Muharram mourning days, Parliament Library will publish the list of Shabih nameh (The litrary books written about the martyrdom of Imam Hossein, the third shia Imam in Karbala).
Sohrab Yekezareh, the director of Parliament Manuscript section states that these resources have been held in the library in an unorganized method, however Dr. Rasul Jafarian, the head of the parliament Library asked Mr Reza Kuchakzadeh to organize and index them. The specified manuscripts are arranged with respect to their content and structure and are kept in 443 special albums and in different profiles.
Mr Yekezareh declared that these manuscripts can help researchers to survey the history of dramatic ritual literature in Iran.
